About Us

Being next door to the Dorchester/Roxbury Cape Verdean Community, CVSA's goal from the begining was to find ways to work with and in the community. Providing whatever assistance and leadership to youth in the area we live in. We are always looking for more ways to get involved.

CVC Unido

Serving as an after school homework program for children in Roxbury, CVC Unido provides an outlet for children to socialize and learn in a nurturing atmosphere. Please support this great organization by volunteering and giving back to the community we get so much from!

The Edgar Barros Bidon Project

We at Northeastern University started our Bidon Project the same year we started our Cape Verdean Student Association. We sent a Bidon (barrel) full of school supplies to a rural school in the Island of Santiago. One of our members, Justiniano Rodrigues visited an isolated farm community in Cape Verde, and brought the community's contacts back with him to Northeastern. CVSA with the leadership of Neuza Fernandes came together to raise money and collect school supplies to send to this rural community school. The school sent us many pictures and a letter of thanks. They are a hardworking farming community that is impoverished and a community that takes care of everything they receive.

We try to continue the tradition as much as we can, by placing collection bins all over campus for those that would like to donate supplies. If you'd like to get involved, don't hesitate to contact us to make this even more successful than it's been in the past!
